PREFACE

In October of 2008 I began chronicling this perilous misadventure in a blog at the Bamblebrush.com site, which took a whole year to unfold and finally reached an end. I've been getting word from people and other online sources that they would still like to read this strange chronicle, so I'm resubmitting it in a journalized story format -- including pictures! Which I failed to do in the blog, unfortunately.

Certain posts in the blog had been referring to articles in "Strange Reports from Zones Unknown," the other fascinating blog I produced for Bamblebrush, still going strong here at the Outer Edge of Reality. So, at the bottom of certain entries, I'm going to list which articles I am referring to in a link so you can go directly to that post for the particular "Zones Unknown" articles, now in the Archive section. Likewise, there were numerous comments from readers, but I will only keep in the text those I felt were most likely sent from those ominous dark strangers.

My fellow writer, L. J. Stroud, suggested I use the tagline, "The demented diary of a ding-a-ling in the desert." But I think he was only joking. So here are a few I had considered using before I found the one that stuck, which was used in the original blog:

"This is a journal of my personal apocalypse, and Armageddon is right around the corner!"

"Dark strangers are hunting me down as I hole up in my secret bunker, Area 57!"

"The End Times has arrived for me, and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are coming to get me!"

"The Beast is seeking me out to put his wretched mark on me! 666!"

However, the one you see below the title section seems to remain tried and true.

I will soon continue to chronicle Area 57 episodes, in Book II, here at the Outer Edge of Reality this time, considering high strangeness and eerie occurrences have already been brewing here in the high desert, which means you’ll definitely have new material to read! Weird paranormal phenomena are beginning to rear their ugly heads out here! So the intriguing adventure continues!

But in the meantime, I hope you enjoy this fascinating tale of my close encounters of the most sinister kind!
